It's July Already..

the middle of winter... and this morning we had a lovely frost with -5 degree temperatures. Both Evan and I thought so little of what this morning brought, that we stayed under the doona until it warmed up a little.

Brrrr. Is it time for winter to be over yet?

Massie Lodge has certainly been the place of pace over the last week... so much so that I havent had the time to update any of my blogs... our dear friend, Susie Black came down for a few days and came with us when we visited Freestone Valley View to get some photos of the boys who are now residents there for the up and coming breeding season.

It had been a while since I had seen Irish Royal ... and I was not disappointed at all, he certainly has grown into a very handsome looking stallion who strongly imprints his progeny. This boy is everything a stallion should be... he has presence, he knows he is a stallion (and cant wait for the mares!) and was a real fidget and took us forever to get some decent photos. I meant to get a photo of the people standing out of camera view trying to get Irish to put his ears forward! Hmm, that in itself would be a comedy show!

Ben, also known as Kbenjar, was the perfect gentleman and loved all the primping and preening that went on before the photos... in fact, when he knew that there was a camera taking his photos, forward came the ears... and you didnt have to ask him to strike a pose.... he just did it. There is a lovely photo of Sue, Justin and Ben.

The new kid on the block, St. Pirian, was absolutely magnificent and very good before having to stand still. Infact, I found it very difficult to get a photo of him without his tongue sticking out!!! lol However, between Debbie (owner of FVV) and myself, we got some good photos.

All is well here at Massie Lodge, with Joie and Maddie (Madely Miss) being moved in to Rosie's paddock together. Both mares will be put in foal this season. Maddie will be going to Irish Royal this year and Joie's owner is still deciding for her.

We're very happy with Joseph (pictured above) who is rehabilitating, and he is becoming fast friends with both Lenny and Jake (who are of the same age) - not quite sure whether thats a good thing or a bad thing!!

Libby and Sweetie are starting to get "the look" about them... and both are moving like mares in foal... at a walk, lol.

In all of our madness last week, we got the bad news that Moon Rocket (owned by Michael Tabbart) had to be put down on Friday as he broke his Scapula while galloping for a Sirecam video. Our deepest sympathies go to Michael and we are thinking of him during this horrid time.

Of course, I did forget to mention that we had 4mm of rain last week. (AArgh!!). Not that it made any difference. lol

Well back to work for me tomorrow ... this is my last week working 4 days, thank goodness... as Iam definitely over it.

Be good and I will post soon.

Cheers, Helen.
