it will go away.
But no, mending Joseph's rug is something that will not go away, even if I try to ignore it always at the back of my mind there will be this niggling little voice saying... "Fix Joseph's rug... go on, you can do it...." and it's not that I can't do it, it is because I dont want to !!!
There I said it. I have come out of the closet and have admitted that I HATE SEWING HORSE RUGS! In fact, I hate sewing. Hey, Sue... if you are reading this..... any chance???
No, I know that I have to do it and tomorrow is Sewing Day. I can't wait. (Hmmm.)
Today has been a funny day with it being very cold in the morning, warming up at around 11 ish and then starting to freeze again by 3pm and in between all of these changing temperatures, all the usual business around Massie Lodge continues to happen.
Adam, the farrier, however, was changed to another day (Friday) because it is still too muddy.
First thing on the agenda. Bring young Jimmy out of the Hospital paddock, give him a refresher lesson on the halter and lead and then put him back in with his buddies, Max and Billy.
Jimmy was a little tense during his lesson on the lead and wasnt too thrilled with Evan picking up his legs. Getting him to stand still seemed to be the object of this lesson though! Eventually, Jimmy settled down and before he knew it he was being reunited with his mates and to celebrate, they galloped around their paddock at full speed 3 times (with young Billy leading the trio). I of course did not choose to watch them do this, however Iam told by Evan that no injuries were sustained after the 3 pals celebrated Jimmy's homecoming.
Next on the Agenda was a trip into Warwick for morning tea at the Bramble Patch, followed by an expedition to Ag Freighters to pick up some horse feed.
This afternoon saw Evan and I worm the 3 young men (Joseph, Jakey and Lenny). Joseph was a darling as was Jakey, however once Jakey was finished, Jakey decided to aggravate Lenny and continually bite him on the bum while Evan was pasting him.
After several attemps and Jake's continual annoying behaviour, Evan decided to bring Lenny out of their yard to do this (mainly to get away from Jakey!) and what a turn he put on for the mares, Maddie and Joie. Time for Lenny to get a refresher course on good manners and Evan put him through his paces around the "figure 8" trees. I have mentioned this before but Iam stunned with the way he is growing up, although I have to say that he does have his mother's front feet. Hmmmm. Nothing a few sessions with Adam won't cure though.
Time now to go and put my feet up, have an alcoholic beverage with Evan and relax.
Hooroo 'til next time.
Helen.

What kind of rug is indestructible for young horses? For heaven's sake, how the hell do they get them in that condition? Maybe it's time to try Glad Wheelie Bin bags to keep the damp out. I'd like to see that!!
