morning.. and it was absolutely glorious waking up this morning... not cold, not raining, the sun was out and the mud had just about dried up!
Evan spent some time this morning giving the weanlings-come-yearlings a lesson not only in manners but in leading, yielding and picking up their feet. I have to say that all boys were exceptionally well behaved, except for Max who thought he was beyond needing lessons!
The year has just flown by ... all the weanlings will be yearlings.... the yearlings will be 2 year olds...
Sweetie and Libby have just entered their 3rd trimester counting down to births mid October. Joie and Mads are kicking up their heels in Rosie's paddock, jumping out of their skin waiting for the warmer weather when a young mares' fancy turns to gorgeous hunky stallions!
Trousers (Turkish Trousers) and Vera (Ophira) are not doing too badly for a 21 and a 20 year old - they both have appetite's of voracious yearling fillies. Vera certainly is doing ok however we have noticed that she lays down every now and again for a nap. Trousers, busy hooking on the steel fence, hasnt missed a beat yet! I do love the old girls very much but have certainly come to terms with the fact that this could possibly be their last winter. Still, you never know and while they are still doing so well, anything is possible.
We have still not 100% decided what we are doing with our mares this year. Maddie is a certain to go back into foal after having the year off, and we are waiting to see how both Libby and Sweetie fare after having their foals this year. Decisions, decisions. lol
I must go and tell Sweetie and Libby that 2 fillies would be good this year!
Life is good, isnt it?
Helen.
