Finally.........

there seems to be some respite from this cold that has travelled down to my chest and has given me no end of trouble - especially as Iam an asthmatic and once I get a cold on my chest, I have to be really really careful - nothing worse than not being able to breath!

So yes, finally we are back up and running at full pace (which Evan is quite thankful for I can assure you).

Today has been spent doing bits and pieces to all the residents... and they were all especially thrilled to bits to be fussed over, so much so that each horse went to sleep once we starting mucking around with them doing the little bits, untangling manes, cutting same and giving them a good brush, painting their toeseys with gooey mentholated stuff and doing the little bits and pieces to those who have an injury or really, have done something stupid to themselves (Tee Cee, Eric and Sunny - dont talk to me about Sunny!)

Do you think that horses can be blonde? Or should we just call them stupid? There is a reason for my question .... *sigh* ... Sunny.

Sunny who'se foot was beautifully mended (so much so that the hair had started to grow back!) ha done it again. One morning Evan found her standing at the fence with her foot through it....not that it was barbed wire or anything (God forbid she should get close to that stuff!) but the silly ... and I have to say "Bitch" ... the silly bitch had ripped open the same foot again. Ok, so we bring her back out of the paddock and put her into the Hospital Yard and start treating the wound with Honey and keep it covered. A week later the foot for all intents and purposes is looking good - Iam happy with it, Evan was happy with it, so we figure its time to let the air in and move her to a better yard where she wont do it a mischief while it's open.

Wrong again. The other morning Evan came running in to the bedroom first thing in the morning, cursing and swearing and told me that she had opened up the wound by doing the same thing again - can you believe it? How stupid must she be?

When I raced out to see the damage she had done, she was very busy eating her breakfast and I cursed and looked at her to see that she had stopped eating to see what all the commotion was about. She looked at me with her cute doe-eyes and said, "What's the matter mum, whats all the swearing for?"

I threw my arms up in the air in disgust and walked off. And she looked at me like I was mad.

Do you think that the NSW TRB would register a name of "Silly Bitch" ????? No????

AAAAArgh! She might race by the time she is 5 if God spares her and keeps her safe! lol

Hamish (Sir Weathervain) and Bob (Centenn) went to the hairdressers and had their manes brushed, thinned and blowdried today.... well sort of!

Tee Cee (Thunderousclassics) had his mane and tail coiffed and the waterblaster treatment to get rid of the scab on his leg as Chris will be coming tomorrow to take off the flap. I had a good look at it and it certainly looks worse than what it is and has not done any serious damage to the tendons or the muscles ... unfortunately his leg will just look ugly when its completely healed, but it wont interfere with racing.

Eric (pictured above with Evan), continues to feel better in himself and today took himself off twice into Leo's (next door neighbour) for a pick of his grass (not just once, oh no....!). I am thrilled with the way he has come on since we have been giving him some special TLC - his foot is just about there (thanks to the Honey) and he has stopped hobbling. He actually has got quite an attitude now and is forever stirring Lenny and Jakey (the yearling geldings). I have to admit it that Iam very attached to him and his funny ways and the way that he can hear with his radar hearing when the feed shed door is opening and closing. Its quite common now to see Eric standing on the verandah in the middle of the day to get some shade. Makes me smile to see how happy and contented he is. Isnt it funny how a little bit of love and affection can work miracles? Sunny, notwithstanding.

Joey is doing very well, so much so that when Chris is here tomorrow we will get him to run his eye over her and tell us what he thinks.

Hopefully now that Iam finally over my coughing and spluttering I can get fully back into the swing of things around the place.

Roll on tomorrow!

Tomorrow might see me bringing out the old soap box for a rant and a rave.... hmmmm, yes, what a good idea!

Helen.
