Welcome to our newest Resident...........

Centenn, who arrived on at Massie Lodge on Thursday after racing at Doomben on Wednesday and ran a nice third for his owners. He has a bit of settling in to do, however, he will only be with us for a freshen up (about a month). By Masterclass out of a Gold Carat mare, Bob (well, he looks like a Bob to me!) is very quiet and easy going and has arrived just in time for some fresh mud to roll in (???) and lots of new green pick - thanks to over 60mls of rain in the last 3 weeks! He will be visited by Adam on Tuesday to get his shoes off and will then go in the larger yard with Oscar (Tannerang Baluk).

We have had another 7.5mls of rain today, and this will put us in a great shape for winter (frosts notwithstanding).

A few bits and pieces around the place..........

Eric the Horse (aka Entirely) had the vet out to him this afternoon as it was discovered that he had a hoof abcess. It never ceases to amaze me how quickly they get over this after the abcess has been lanced and discinfected (not to mention a jab of Pencillan in the butt for good measure). Eric is the most unassuming horse here at Massie Lodge - never any trouble, always quiet and a good boy (except when Rusty decided to take him on an adventure out of their paddock and down the railway track??). I do have a soft spot for Eric and Im glad that we took him in when his future was looking very glum indeed. How anyone could abuse this sweet boy I have no idea.

Rusty has certainly come along way since going over to our neighbour, Leo Roche. Leo has broken him in and says that he is great to ride. In conversation with Leo today, we have decided to join Leo in trying to get him to the track. Now, where this goes or whether he gets to run, I have no idea. Leo will train Rusty and we get the job of naming him!

Rusty, by Canadian Silver out of Mariko's Star has taken a long time to grow up ... whether he makes it to the track or not doesnt matter.... but we decided that there is no harm in trying! Stay tuned to find out what names we come up with.

Speaking of Leo, Leo half owns with Lyndhurst Stud the dam of Noodle Night (who tragically had a very promising career cut short) - Night Out, and he brought her over with her filly by Canadian Silver to give her a needle today. This filly is absolutely stunning and a real handful to boot. (Would certainly have given Caramel a run for her money!) Rumour has it that Night Out's previous colt by Hayil is also a real standout.

Joey (aka Joie de Victorie) is going very well with Paul Nipperess and he is very pleased with her progress and her work at the track. Paul has got himself an Apprentice, which should make his job a lot easier and not have any more problems getting track riders of a morning. Paul is a good bloke and deserves lots of winners.

Wee Jimmy's time with Sweetie is running out and he will be weaned after Bob (Centenn) has his shoes off and goes into the paddock with Oscar (Tannerang Baluk). We're very pleased with Jimmy - he is going to be a knockout when he grows up.

Sunny, by Kbenjar out of Miss Independence is recovering well with her foot troubles. I wish I could say the same for Evan who was kicked flying by Sunny when he was dressing her foot on his own on Thursday!

Cindy (Lightning Edge) is looking very well and has discovered that an all over mud mask has many therapeutic qualities.......????? What is it about horses and mud?

Flossie (Dodge / Wanchai Lady) has settled into her yard next to Short Pants and is enjoying her time her as well. I wonder if I will be able to say the same thing after Adam comes on Tuesday??

Certainly never a dull moment here!

Well, roll on the weekend I say. The weekend brings a possible trip up to the BB sales on Sunday - we havent quite decided yet - depends on Eric and how quickly he responds after the visit from Graham from Warwick Vets.

Hoorooo until next time!

Helen.
