There's always something going on at Massie Lodge - be it with the canines, the equines, the humines or the avines (avines being the peach face parrots that keep insisting to live - I am sure that Nigel No-Leg is at least 10 years old and his partner, Missy would be about 8).
We have been braving the "Warwick Winter" and each day we hope that that westerly wind will not be blowing. We have had some really low days where its overcast, the wind feels like its come straight off the Arctic caps and you have the rain scuds that seem to keep everything just damp and miserable - with no real rain falling, just these horrible 5-10 min episodes that just make you want to crawl right under the doona and stay there for the duration of winter.
I dont know how Evan does it every day - and I dont know how he continues to keep wearing shorts out in this weather! I have worked out that if you wear at least 5 layers you can at least stand out in the worst Mother Nature can serve. Thank God for my car heater that seems to defrost humans in no time whatsover.
Even the Canines choose inside to outside in this weather - they are not stupid are realise that the lounge is pretty warm and comfy compared to braving the elements!!
The horses continue to weather the winter and all have very thick winter coats. All are looking fabulous with big hairy tummys. The older ladies, Pip and Goss are doing fantastic - both sporting a woolly jacket over their huge stomachs. I can see that Pip is trying to keep Goss company by pretending she is pregnant! These two ladies are firm friends and you cant have one without the t'other.
Comings and Goings
August is the month where some of our residents will be off to see their respective male friends: Joie is off to see Tycoon Ruler and Dirty has a date with Over. Two very handsome young men. An exciting time for both girls.
Balls (Ballasario) will be returning into work next week. Storm will be heading back into the stable as well. Lexie (Viscount Filly) will be returning for a spell next week. Meggsie has been sold on up north and left Massie Lodge last week.
Once again I have the dogs with me in the study: Pikey under the desk, Bessie Merle in front of the heater, Ruby and Doc playing with an old sock that they found and Matilda waiting patiently for me to move and give her some dinner.
I can hear Evan in the kitchen about to start cooking his specialty dish, Seafood Marinara ... yummm and there is a very nice bottle of Chardy in the fridge just waiting to be opened and shared.
Not a bad life, dont you think?
