when it's the weekend. There's just something nice about waking up and knowing that you dont have to drive to work... and that you can spend the day roaming the paddocks if thats what makes you feel good, if you want to.
Lots of comings and goings over the last few days here at Massie Lodge.
Dirtiere (whose stable name is "Nails" or I have been calling her the Dirty girl, lol) arrived and is now in the stable with her sore leg. She's a pretty filly who likes to play in her water dish! I stood there at her dish this afternoon trying to fill it up ... and it took me twice as long as what it normally does because she wanted to drink the water straight out of the hose, and wash her face and splash around in it.
Joie has been moved from the stable next to the Dirty Girl and into the Hospital paddock. Apart from trying to boss the Dirty Girl around, Monica, who paid her a visit on Friday to change the bandage, said that she could be moved into the Hospital Paddock where there is a bit more room and some green pick. Joie's leg is progressing very well and Monica was very happy with it.
Joseph finally gets picked up tomorrow to go to his new home in Macksville, NSW. Beautiful boy who didnt cause any problems with us..
Bob (Centenn) who has arrived at Massie Lodge for a 4 week stay has been put in the yard next to the Dirty Girl and is as just as he was when he was with us last time, very laid back and relaxed. One thing that Bob has been enjoying since he arrived is the fact that he can have a good roll in the sand in his yard ... The simple things I guess!!
Oscar (Tannerong Baluk) has been moved to the paddock behind the house with young Maxwell and Jimbo (pictured above) being moved into "Rosie's Paddock" - a 4 acre paddock to the other side of the house to where the stables are. Max and Jimbo now back on to Lenny and Jakey and as I look out through the window now, I can see the 4 of them grazing on their sides of the fence, but keeping company together.
We are very lucky that we have double glass doors on all sides of the house so that all the paddocks are visible from the house.
Shortpants is off to Paul Moody's next week to start her breaking in ... Evan has been bringing her up to around the house and getting her used to what we call an "obstacle course" ... to get her used to moving around different things and getting her ready for her first trip in a horse transport.
Evan has a set course - over the scary horse rug on the ground, up over the round garden at the back of the house, past one of the little sheds, through the "figure of 8" trees, through the long grass and then up through the carport and then start all over again. Each time it has been getting easier and Shorts has been able to survive all the "monsters" that she has to walk past or through.
Monica also ran her eye over Sweetie and Libby when she came out on Friday and both are doing well in their pregnancies. Not long to go now!
Adam the farrier is due next week to start the process again of taking off shoes and trimming feet.
Hmm, yes ... there's nothing like waking up knowing it's Saturday!!
Helen.
