I'm Sorry...

I know, its been a little while since I have posted on this blogsite. Well, I havent actually written in over a week BUT I have posted some piccies! Does that count? Will I be forgiven? Or have I been forgotten?

Lets get a few things out of the way before I start waffling on:-

Stallion Road Test...

For those of you who do not visit Gallopers website, the latest
Stallion Road Test was put up on last Monday. This handsome boy is a former Woodlands Stallion who really was dumped on the bottom of the list and forgotten. However, in saying that he has moved up to Queensland this year, will be standing for $3,300, has won stakes races, has produced stakes winners and can sell yearlings at the yearling sales. To top it all off his pedigree is absolutely delicious, in fact, you have to go back 3 generations before Northern Dancer makes a show. Very underestimated Stallion in my opinion, and to be perfectly honest I would not hesitate to send a mare to him (did you read that bit Evan? lol).

Go and have a look and see what you think.

Australian Thoroughbred Watch

Has had a makeover and looks pretty spiffy. All you have to do is click on the heading to go there to catch up on all the newsy bits around the industry and out of it!

Oscar

(Pictured above), has had his first EMIT Therapy treatment and was found to have some deep muscular pain around his rump and hamstring muscles. He will be having another treatment before going back into work. Why cant all horses be like Oscar?

Little Jo

A new arrival to Massie Lodge. Little Jo (of who I have already posted a pic) is a yearling colt by Specialize out of Chimes who hurt himself while being broken in. Little Jo has settled in very nicely and will be moved out of the hospital paddock in the next few days into the yard opposite the house (so we can keep an eye on him to make sure he keeps quiet and doesnt do anything silly).

Little Jo is not the mare "Joie" .... who is settling into mare life very easily. Currently she is in the day yard next to Shortpants and Flossie until we sort out which of our dry girls are going to be put into foal.

It has been a very cold start to winter here at Massie Lodge and the blades of grass are few and far between ... but's thats ok because that seems to be normal for this time of year. All horses are being hand fed and are doing pretty good going into July (which is another way of saying that they all have round bellies!).

We have had a few people out to see Shore as a riding horse prospect but as of yet, we have not got a new owner for him. We had a family come out and wanted an older mare, so we brought up Zandrea (our 17 year old Best Western mare) put a saddle on her and she wasnt impressed to start with. Well, she had her last race start with Lee Freedman in 1991! However, it all came back pretty quickly to her and she looked and behaved very well for her new owners under saddle.

Our good friend, Sue Black, came down over the long weekend with Patch Puppy and we all had a good time together with lots of good conversation, plenty of alcohol and good food.

Spikey, our newest addition to Massie Lodge who was a rescue dog, has settled in very quickly and is very happy in his new environment. Of course not wanting to shed any of the limelight, Bessie Merle decided to come into season on Sunday. Of course the $64,000 question will be, can Lancey do it? I guess we will find out sooner rather than later!

Well, time for me to go and put my feet up and have a cuppa...

Dont be a stranger!

Helen.
