You are all probably wonder why the blog was not updated on the weekend as it usually is.
Saturday was a complete right-off for both Evan and I as the 3 colts were gelded by Monika and we were both involved in the process. Actually the process itself didnt take that long, it was the sedating and waiting for them to wake up that seemed to take the most time. After any procedure where a horse has been sedated it's important to make sure that they wake up ok and get back up on to their feet as soon as possible. We didnt have any problems with Rover waking up as he seemed to be asleep one moment and wide awake and trying to walk the next!
All 3 procedures went very smoothly and Monika ensured that all boys were up and moving well before she left Massie Lodge. After the boys procedure, Monika took the stitches out of the Dirty Girl's leg and then spent some time with the young girls, Isabell and Lucy before giving them their first 2in1.
We finally sat (fell) down to a late lunch at 2pm after ensuring that all residents were fed, watered and happy.
Its a bloody hard life at times, however, what else would you be doing????
Helen & Evan.
p.s. Please note that there are one or two photos that might make you a bit queasy.
