A week later and Bessie and her two charges are doing well. As you can see the pups are hardly lacking in the eating department with Doc reminding me very much of the large Brown dog when he was just a wee one. While Bess is very good with the two, she is torn between her two charges and being one of the Massie Lodge pack - i.e. going outside and having walks and swims and going witih mum and dad.
Weaning will start at Week 3, and while it doesnt finish for a few weeks after that, I am sure that Bess will be glad to get back to her normal duties - mouse hunting, frog catching etc etc.
I have always fed the Massie Lodge canines the BARF (Bones and Raw Food) diet (as proposed by Dr. Ian Billinghurst) and the pups will follow suit come weaning.
The two pups already have little personalities with Doc the outgoing, adventurous one and Ruby not so outgoing; its amazing even at Week 1 how their personalities are developing.
We have had to watch Matilda with the pups as she is fascinated with them.
